That's just the way things go sometimes.
Last night was not very good at all. Rather awful, in fact. 17 people came out and I thank all of you. But 17 people will not keep a night at Godfrey's. The format will be changing or at least how it's advertised. I understand that this upsets a lot of you. And I know that there will be comments made that won't be pretty. It is nothing personal, I assure you.
Countless times I've said that if a goth night could work then we'd keep it the way it is. But the fact of the matter is that it's not working. Perhaps three goth nights a week is too much? I don't know. Nonetheless, next week I'm going to try something different. If it works, then super! But if it doesn't, then I told Jeff Willis that there's no point in keeping things going.
For those who want more of the goth night goodness go to Sacrosanct. It's a lot of fun and the place gets busier each week. If all else fails, I'll probably help them out more because I know it's hard for C'ville people to flyer in Richmond. And they'll occasionally let me DJ (woot)!
Support your scene, folks. Without a scene we got nothing.

News on Re:surrection
Re:surrection will continue Tuesday, September 28th and will last until Tuesaday, October 19th (or maybe longer depending on business)! The night will continue to offer electronica, futurepop, synthpop, goth, and industrial with some '80s, Retro, and New Wave thrown into the mix (however, the advertisements will boast more of the latter).
On details on how to support the night or help us out contact evadimus or rat_bastard or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We're looking to bring in 75-100 heads each week! Hopefully, it'll be huge and Godfrey's will be the most happenin' spot around!
Thanks to everyone for keeping in touch and thanks for your support!

No Re:surrection tonight!
Due to technical difficulties, the Re:surrection 80s/New Wave/Retro/Future Pop night is CANCELED. We are EXTREMELY sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused anyone and we hope you stay tuned to what's going on with our night. Hopefully, we'll be back up and running next Tuesdays.
Thanks for your patience!

The Re:surrection is Re:surrected!
Come out this Tuesday to Godfrey's, 308 E. Grace St (roughly two blocks north of 3rd Street Diner) for an all out '80s, Retro, New Wave, and Future Pop dance night! The doors open at 10 and it's free to get in before 11 (with valid ID).
Fetish is as fetish does.
And this monday at Sacrosanct, it's all about you and your fetish. Come dressed to the nines and show off your stuff, and above all DANCE!!! The house DJ's, DJ JU5T1CE, DJ Warlok, and DAQ will be bringing the noise. Plus we'll have 2 vendors showing their wares, Taboo Lingerie and Ravish Alternative Clothing.
Make sure to tell your friends, you don't want them to miss it.
Music for the Masses of MONKEYS!!!

The Re:surrection will return Tuesday, September 14. The reason it will not be this upcoming Tuesday is so we have plenty of time to advertise for it.
Just thought ya'll should know. :)

Monday, monday, monday.
That's right, this monday, Sept 6th, it's time for another night of dancing and mayhem. This week, we have a special treat for everyone, 2 bands that are sure to make your ears tingle. We present Ego Likeness and Silent Muse. The doors open at 10PM, $6 at the door, 18 and up with ID. We'll see you there.
As usual, the Nanci Raygun, 929 W. Grace Street, Richmond, VA.
Sacrosanct. Where monkeys dance and mayhem is mandatory.
|Thursday, September 2nd, 2004|
So Re:surrection will occur next Tuesday. It will be an all out goth night with synthpop, industrial, etc. Lots of dancing and la de da. Hopefully, we'll bring in a big enough crowd so that the tradition of gothnights at Godfrey's may continue.
There will be more information before next Tuesday.
Please add any feedback that you can. It'd be much appreciated.
What's going on...
Here's the DL. Yesterday, I spoke to Jeff Willis, Godfrey's owner, about our night. We're moving to Tuesdays and we have a month to bring some business in. 50 heads or so each week will do it. Not a very difficult goal. However, this does probably mean the format might change up a little bit.
Now, I'm shooting for a night that starts off with futurepop/synthpop hits (VNV, Covenant, etc etc) and regresses into '80s later in the night. '80s seems to be the big thing lately and it'll bring more in than the regular crowd. Thus, keeping our night alive.
What I would like from the community is some feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions?
